Edwin William Wiemer

Edwin William Wiemer 85 of Bogota passed away April 8, 2020. Born in Brooklyn on June 10, 1934 he was the son of the late Edwin and Margaret Wiemer. His family moved to Bogota in 1942 and Ed attended School 3 and graduated Bogota High School in 1953. He was honorably discharged from the US Army after serving two tours from 1958 -1963. He joined Bogota Engine Company #3 of the Bogota Fire Department in July 1965 and served for 45 years. He was Chief of the Department in 1984. He belonged to the department soft ball team and loved golf and horseshoes. He is described by fellow firefighters as “everyone’s dad”, “a mentor for all”, “larger than life”, “one of the best firefighters ever” and he always “showed respect”. Ed always had a smile, a joke and a helping hand for all. He was a parishioner of St. Joseph’s RC Church, Bogota for over 40years and made his living as a carpenter for over 40 years. He met his future wife Elizabeth “Betty” at a bowling dinner thru their mutual friends the McIndoes and were married in 1967. He was predeceased by his wife in February, 2020, and his sister Lillian Carlson and brother in law Al Carlson. Beloved father of Christine Wiemer and her husband Bruce Feinberg and Katherine Crawford. Loving grandfather of Jonathan Crawford, Kristin Crawford, Claudia Feinberg, Alexander Feinberg, James Feinberg, Thomas Feinberg, Natalie Crawford and great grandfather of Addison Feinberg and Noah Morales. Dear brother of Richard and his wife the late Bernice. Also survived by his sisters and brothers in law Anita and Ken Liggett and Harry and Marion Romano and several loving nieces and nephews. The funeral will leave Petrik Funeral Home 140 Palisade Avenue, Bogota, Saturday at noon for the interment in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
