Elizabeth Louise “Betty” Wiemer nee Romano 74 of Bogota, passed away February 21, 2020. Betty lived in Bogota over 50 years and for the past 35 years she was Bogota’s Tax Collector until her retirement in 2019. Born at Holy Name Hospital and raised in Teaneck, she met her husband Edwin at the Maywood Inn during a bowling dinner and it was “a lot of like at first sight!” They married in 1967 and moved to Bogota. Betty was active in the PTA/PTO and Bogota Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. In the 1970’s she joined the Board of Health and was President for many years. She was also the co-founder of the Mid-Regional Commission on Health and served as the first President of the organization. She was also a volunteer Library Trustee for many years before her retirement and the Library Reading Room will be dedicated to her. Betty served in many capacities on numerous committees during her years in Bogota. Beloved mother of Katherine Crawford and Christine Wiemer and her husband  Bruce Feinberg. Loving grandmother of Jonathan Crawford, Kristin Crawford, Claudia, Alexander, James and Thomas Feinberg and Natalie Crawford and great grandmother of Addison Feinberg and Noah Morales and honorary grandmother of Joey Desimone and Sean Cranmer.  Dear sister of Harry Romano and his wife Marian and Anita Liggett and her husband Ken. Betty is also survived by brother in law Rick Wiemer (the late Bernice)and her nieces and nephews Maryanne Theiss (the late Don), Marilyn Christman (Dan), Dennis Wiemer (Kim),  Kerrie Peraino (Dave), Patricia  McKiernan(Pete), Amanda Thurston, John Thurston, Neil Liggett, Aimee Theiss, Ron Carlson, Sharon Antonucci (Aaron), Rick Carlson (Denny) and Cheryl Walker (Ray). Survived by her cousins Judy Quist and Nancy Eshelman, her aunts Norma Ferraro and Gloria Jacques and predeceased by her parents Harry and Elizabeth Romano and son in law Michael Crawford. She leaves behind special friends including Valerie Goldstein, Linda Ruch, Darlene and Denny LaVella, Barbara Bultman and neighbor Jimmy Massengel and her Saturday morning WW friends. She is thankful to all of the Holy Name Hospital staff especially  Scott Cooper,  Debra Roditski, Dr. Condemi and Anne Shaftic. The funeral will leave Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Avenue, Bogota Thursday morning at 9:30 for the funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Bogota at 10. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. Visiting Wednesday 3-9pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to the Bogota Public Library www.bogotapubliclibrary.org/donate would be appreciated.
