George Robert Sepp, 82, of Bogota, passed away on Tuesday, August 27th 2024.
He was born in Manhattan, NYC on October 10th 1941 to the late Theodore and Mary (Harrington) Sepp.
George is survived by his wife Barbara (Kirby) of 59 years, and his cherished children: Eileen Cieslak, James Sepp and Robert Sepp. He is the dear father-in-law to Kenneth Cieslak and Kelly Sepp (Bergman). George was the proud “Pa” to his seven grandchildren: Erin Unger and her husband Nick; 1st Lt. Timothy Cieslak (United States Army); Senior Airman Mary Kate Sepp (United States Air Force); Andrew Sepp; Gillian Sepp; Patrick Sepp; and Carly Sepp. George was a “Great Pa” to his beloved great-granddaughter Avery Rose Unger.
He was the brother of Anne Lee Dettloff and her husband Carl, and brother-in-law to the late Corinne and Fred Yerou. He was pre-deceased by his in-laws Edward and Lucy Kirby. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
George proudly served in the United States Army from 1959 to 1962. He served as a guided missile electrical equipment technician at Fort Wainright, Alaska.
He also served as a volunteer firefighter in Bogota at Hose Co #2 for 40 years, where he served as Captain and Lieutenant over the years. He also served as a member of the Exempt Fireman’s & Relief Association.
George worked as a banker at First Fidelity Bank in Hackensack as a Vice President of Commercial Loans. After leaving banking, he worked at Lincoln Town Motors in Englewood. In his retirement, he worked for Petrik Funeral Home in Bogota.
Visitation for George will be held on Tuesday, September 3rd, 2024 from 3pm to 8pm at Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Avenue, Bogota. A funeral mass will take place at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Palisade Avenue, Bogota on Wednesday, September 4th at 11am. His final resting place will be at Brig. General William G. Doyle Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, in Wrightstown, NJ.
