James Benson

James Benson, 86 of Bogota passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021.  Before retiring, Jim worked in the College of Science and Engineering at Fairleigh Dickinson University and became Associate Dean of Academic Affairs.  He received his PhD in Computer Simulation from NYU in 1977.  Jim served as a lieutenant in the US Navy ’56-’59, was an elected member of the Bogota Board of Education, and member of Troop 41 Bogota Boy Scouts of America. Besides his love for mathematics, Jim enjoyed home projects with his sons, reading, camping trips with friends, and being near the ocean. He was the devoted husband of Carol (nee Kinast), and beloved father to Elaine, Richard, and John. He is survived by six loving grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. Memorial donations in lieu of flowers should be made to the MS Society.
