John Ralph Starace “Johnny” passed away unexpectedly on January 29th, 2023, in New York City. He was only 46 years old. The family is both devastated and shocked by his death. John was born on February 13th, 1976, in Morristown NJ to John A. Starace and Laurie (Talley) Starace. John grew up in Parsippany NJ and graduated from Parsippany Hills High School in 1994 where he developed lifelong friendships.
In 1999 John began his career in post-production, specializing in Visual Effects. He was a very talented Flame artist, earning himself the name “Johnny Flame” in the industry. He loved to “make pretty pictures” and worked on many incredible projects over his 20+ years career. John loved to travel, he took many treasured trips. He had an amazing memory and often told entertaining stories (sometimes with a hint of exaggeration). Even in his last few days, he told stories from throughout his life. John’s antics were legendary and those who knew him have their own stories to tell. He had a big heart and giving nature. He touched the lives of so many people. John will truly be missed and will never, ever, be forgotten.
John is survived and missed by his loving parents John and Laurie. Forever cherished by his sister Lisa (Starace) Koeck, brother-in-law Christopher Koeck and nephew Blaze Coda Koeck. As well as his loving girlfriend Beth Uribe, and numerous beloved Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and countless dear friends.
Family and friends are welcome to attend a Memorial for John on Saturday, March 4th at Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisades Ave Bogota NJ 07603 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
This is a memorial, so in lieu of flowers please consider planting a tree in John’s name, a gift that will last for generations to come.
