Mary Theresa Czarnecki

Mary Theresa Czarnecki nee Guerin 85 of Lake Como, NJ passed away on Easter, April 20, 2025. She was born on April 11, 1940, in Milltown Malbay, County Clare, Ireland. She was the oldest daughter of 11 siblings.

Maura came to the US at the young age of 16 and landed with friends and family in the Bronx. She met her first husband Patrick Moran, who also came from Ireland and they had three girls, June, Irene and Patty. When they parted, Pat and Maura both remarried keeping a wonderful relationship alive for their children and families. All were fortunate to have both sets of grandparents share the holidays and other family special events.

Maura was a hard worker and worked for NY Telephone, Radio Phone and Metromedia where she met her beloved husband Ed. He asked her out with note written on a tangerine and the love story began. Ed and Maura made a great team and Ed embraced her children like they were his own and they created a beautiful life together.

Maura loved Irish music and dance. She loved to entertain and prioritized getting the family together. She had a knack for decorating and her homes were accentuated with a welcoming warmth and coziness that made all visitors feel at ease.

Maura lived a very happy and fulfilled life.

Beloved wife of the late Edward. Devoted mother of June Vogedes and her husband Ken; Irene Schmitt and her husband Jim; and Patricia Karsian and her husband Keith. Loving grandmother of Keri, Jenny, Kyle, Matty, Danny and Lauren and great grandmother of Isabella, Sophia, Raegan and Emma. She, of course, is also survived by her loving brothers and sisters and a slew of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will leave Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Avenue, Bogota, Thursday morning at 9:30, for the funeral Mass at St. Joseph’s RC Church, Bogota at 10. Entombment St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall, NJ. Visiting Wednesday 4-8pm.
