Michael W. Mccarthy

Michael Winston McCarthy, 59, of Hawthorne, New Jersey, passed away on Friday, November 24, 2023. Michael was born on July 17, 1964, in Bogota, New Jersey. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Shirley McCarthy and brothers Paul McCarthy Jr., Gregory McCarthy and Charles McCarthy and sister Frances McCarthy. Michael is survived by his sisters Peggy (Peter) Lawton, Kathleen (Barry) O'Daniels, sister in law Susan McCarthy, and his brother John (Jody) McCarthy; nieces and nephews Cindy, Michael (Doris), Dana, Brett, Mark (Marleni), Tara (André), Tiffany (Ian), Amber (Dave), Patrick, Matthew, Allison, Billy (Diana), Shannon; and great nieces and nephews, Michael Jr., Andrew, Sean, Daniel (Magen), Heather, Kimberlin (James), Sam, Scott, Brett Anthony, Madison, Zoe, Olivia, Juliana, Paloma, Jack, Grace, Cheyenne (Jens), Samantha, Carson, Jonathan, Charley, and Brady.  He is also survived by his close friend Carol Rabel. Michael worked in the Ridgewood and Maywood school systems as a custodian and loved his job, the staff and the children.  He was an avid sports fan, and could talk for hours about his Cornhuskers, Miami Dolphins or the Bundesliga. Michael cherished his family above all else and was affectionally known as Big Show to those who loved him most.  Visitation will be Tuesday November 28th from 4pm - 8pm at Petrik Funeral Home, 140 Palisade Ave., Bogota, New Jersey. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
