Michael J. Moran

Michael Moran died peacefully in his home on June 22, 2021 with his wife, five daughters and  loving family by his side.  Beloved husband to Margaret Moran. Devoted father to Kathy and her husband Kevin, Lisa, Michelle, Marybeth and her husband Scott and Jennifer and her husband Alex.  Dear Brother to Maisie, James, Nancy and Criss and the late Willie, Kathleen, Patrick, John and Donie.  He was also a doting grandfather and great grandfather to 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Michael came to the United States from Ireland in 1957.  Within a few years, he started working for the NYC transit, where he had a distinguished career.  Upon his retirement from the buses, he committed his life to his construction company.  He was an extremely hard worker and was very well respected for his excellent work ethic and craftsmanship.  When he fully retired, Michael and Margaret moved to East Durham, NY, where he enjoyed hosting family and friends and tooling around on his tractors.  He also loved refereeing the family softball and volleyball games.  Michael was generous, kind, funny and loved to tell a good story over a cup of tea.
The wake will be held at Petrik Funeral Home in Bogota, New Jersey, from 3pm -7pm on June 24, 2021.  The mass will be held the following day at St. John’s Church in Leonia, New Jersey at 10am.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to The John Theurer Cancer Center of Hackensack Hospital (give.hackensackmeridianhealth.org).
