Sandra Ruth Sorge

Sandra Ruth Sorge, 69, of Bogota, passed away on Sunday, April 6th, surrounded by the warmth and love of her family. A dedicated middle-school science teacher, Sandy ignited curiosity and passion in her students, shaping their futures and also leaving an indelible mark on her colleagues. Throughout her life, she devoted herself to her quilting, stitching together memories through her creativity, and she also explored the world of photography. Her hands, once busy with lessons and fabric, crafted treasures that will live on long after her.

Sandy's legacy endures through her husband, Wayne, with whom she shared 46 years of love, laughter, and partnership. She is also survived by her sons Corey, and his wife Jaddy, and Toby, and his husband Brett. As a mother, she modeled acceptance and unconditional love, embracing her sons’ with open arms, teaching them the value of defining tradition in their own way. As a grandmother, she reveled in the joy of her three grandchildren: Isaiah, Faith, and Emma. She doted on each of them, her heart full of pride and affection. Over the years, her home was never without the companionship of her beloved golden retrievers—Dooley, Harley, Rudy, Turbo, Bella, Jake, and Molly—each one a source of joy and comfort. Growing up, she shared a bond with her extended family, including her many cousins—laughing, playing, and growing in a tight-knit circle of love.

Sandra’s passing leaves a void that no words can fill, but her spirit, her love, and the joy she brought to those around her will continue to inspire and guide us.
