Teresita Cortez Lacap

Teresita Cortez Lacap, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, passed away on January 7, 2021 at Holy Name Hospital in Teaneck, NJ at the age of 93 due to COVID-19.

Teresita is survived by her children Teresita (Antonio) Bautista, Nenita Yumang, Gorgonio (Lilyrose) Lacap Jr., Violeta Viray, Rico (Evelyn) Lacap, Andres (Beda) Lacap, Ramon (Ana Elena) Lacap, Agnes (Victor) Garcia, Ines (Edgar) Navarro, Lorenzo (Gail) Lacap, and Carlo (Clarizel) Lacap, 21 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband, Gorgonio Lacap Sr.; her two grandchildren, Brian and Ashley Viray; her brother, Eugenio Cortez; and her son-in-law, Nicomedes Viray.

Teresita was born in Macabebe, Pampanga, Philippines on March 21, 1927 to Roman and Claudia Cortez. She spent most of her life living with her children in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, USA. She enjoyed babysitting her grandchildren, spending time with her great-grandchildren, shopping, sewing, and watching her favorite TV shows. Her favorite celebrity singer was Engelbert Humperdinck. She was a very devoted Catholic and prayed the rosary 3 times a day.

A virtual viewing service https://www.facebook.com/petrikfuneralhome will be held on Saturday January 9, 2021 at 8:00 am EST provided by Petrik Funeral Home in Bogota, NJ. The viewing will be followed by a funeral mass service at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Bogota, NJ at 9:30 am EST. Livestream for the mass will be available on the church Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/stjosephbogota/). Afterwards she will be buried at Hackensack Cemetery in Hackensack, NJ at 10:45 am EST.
